Maintenance and Repair
Maintenance
Most Physics equipment requires little or no special maintenance if it is carefully stored during periods of non-use. Maintenance procedures for the few items that require special attention are described in the Operating Instructions that accompany the item.
When storing Physics equipment, choose a location that protects the equipment from its two greatest enemies – dust and sunlight.
Dust accumulates in the bearings of moving parts and also on insulating surfaces. A storage cupboard or dust cover eliminates this problem. When cleaning the equipment, do not use organic solvents, which can damage its surface finish.
Many Physics items include plastic or rubber parts that are degraded by long exposure to sunlight. This can lead to premature failure of the part. Store these items away from direct sunlight, or use a cover to protect the rubber or plastic parts.

In most cases, we can supply replacements for broken or lost parts, if the equipment they are intended for is still active in our program. Please call out Customer Service Department for assistance with replacement parts.
For older or discontinued items, we try to maintain the availability of replacement parts as long as possible, and we will attempt to find a way to repair your equipment at any time. However, we cannot guarantee to be able to supply any particular part at any given time.
