Measure Compressive Forces in a Rigid Boom Directly
Build a model crane or derrick to demonstrate static equilibrium. The crane boom contains a compression spring scale with a range of about 15kg, graduated in tenths. The lower part of the boom extends in a bent rod to form the pivot. At the upper end of the boom are the chains and cords necessary to apply a load and a supporting force. Boom length is 104cm uncompressed, 89cm compressed.
Required Accessories for the Experimental Crane Boom Kit:
- Spring Scale = WLS3649-E
- 2Kg Slotted Masses = WLS4321-206 (Each Kit requires two of these)
- Mass Hanger = WLS4320-30
- Supports = WLS8305-C
- Ball-bearing collar-mounted pulley = CP32794-00
