Molecular Motion Demonstrator
|
Understanding the properties of solids, liquids and gases will be just a little bit easier for your students after they see how molecules move and act under various circumstances. Designed for use with (or without) an overhead projector, the demonstrator vibrates various sized balls (representing molecules) on a glass plate to simulate changes caused by temperature, pressure and volume. Students can investigate kinetic theory concepts, random motion, diffusion of gases, Brownian motion, Boyles and Charles laws, change of state, mean free path and more. A continuous control knob varies the speed of vibration to represent changes in temperature. The sturdy metal unit comes with an assortment of molecules (five types and sizes), a plastic disc (smoke particle), several barriers (diffusion and confinement) and a glass dish (molecular motion in solids and liquids). An excellent study guide provides in-depth scientific background and lessons for 11 experiments. For operation on 115 VAC, 60 Hz.
