These plane mirrors are rectangular. They are available in glass or shatterproof Plexiglas. Back surface silvered mirrors are less expensive, and ideal for general use. The silvered back surface is painted for durability. Front surface silvering eliminates double reflections at the unsilvered surface, giving a brighter, sharper image. However, these mirrors are more easily damaged by scratching.
