Meade 6" LXD75 Schmidt-Newtonian Meade 6" LXD75 Schmidt-Newtonian

WL3744-72      $1,499.00

Design improvements to the popular LXD55 telescope have made the new model LXD75 even better. A Schmidt-Newtonian optical system provides stellar images at extremely wide fields for brilliant viewing. The 6" (152mm) aperture and 762mm focal length offer a fast f/5 focal ratio and combine with the standard 26mm Super Plossl eyepiece to yield an actual field in excess of 1.3°. A water white corrector lens and Pyrex® primary mirror have revolutionary Ultra High Transmission Coatings (UHTC) to maximize total telescope light transmission.

Additional Upgraded Features Include:
The LXD75 Equitorial Mount: A virtually backlash free mount incorporating heavy duty castings and four high precision stainless-steel ball bearings in both RA and Dec axes. High Precision Worm Gears and High Precision Pointing allow for smooth tracking and slewing while placing objects in the center of the field-of-view for accurate identification.

Heavy-Duty Tripod: Variable - height field tripod with a locking spreader bar that includes three 1.25" eyepiece holders to lock each leg in place. Each leg also has two inward facing leg extension locks with an internal brake to eliminate leg slipping.

Enhanced Optical Tube Construction: Optics are initially mounted in precision-machined aluminum cells and then mounted in sturdy steel tubes. Optical tubes are sealed to prevent distortion from air currents and keep optics clean. A 2" aluminum rack and pinion focuser allows for ease of focus while the eyepiece holder accommodates both 1.25 and 2" eyepieces. The new 8x50mm viewfinder is also standard to allow for quick location of sky objects.

Autostar® Controller and Autostar Suite™ Lunar Planetary Imager (LPI™): The Autostar Computer Controller automatically locates over 30,000 database objects. It is pre-programmed with several guided tours that take advantage of date, time and location inputs for a tour of the best celestial objects. The Autostar Suite™ LPI™ allows for immediate PC connection and lets stargazers capture and process images from their PC. Other Autostar® features include:

    • Automatic GO TO capability at 4.5°/second on both axes simultaneously, to 30,223 database objects, including:
    • 13,235 deep-sky objects- galaxies; diffuse and planetary nebulae; star clusters; the complete Meisser, Caldwell, IC, and NGC catalogs.
    • 16,800 stars sorted by name, SAO catalog numbers, double and variable stars.
    • 50 objects in the Solar System; 8 major planets from Mercury to Pluto; the Moon; 26 asteroids; 15 comets, 50 Earth satellites; 200 memory locations for user-defined objects.
    • Automatic GO TO capability to any object of known RA and Declination.
    • Nine selctabels slew and slow-motion speeds: 4.5°, 3°, and 1.5°/sec, 128x, 64x, 16x, 8x, 2x, and 1x sidereal.
    • Automatic sidereal-rate tracking in RA keeps objects precisely centered in the field.
    • RS-232 interface allows control of the telescope through your PC and downloading capabilities via the Internet for software updates, guided tours, and featured objects.
This telescope also is equipped with and Illuminated Polar Alignment Viewfinder for quick polar alignment. It is powered by a battery pack (12vDC) that rests on the telescope's accessory shelf and plugs into the control panel. The battery pack accepts eight (user-supplied) D-cell batteries, which power the telescope for more than 40 hours.
