Your chemistry lab will not be a source of foul odors on the day you do this experiment. Even if you don't live in a sap-producing area (New England States, states bordering on the Great Lakes, Kentucky, West Virginia) you can do the experiment, using instructions included that detail how to reconstitute sap from the maple syrup available in your local grocery store. Experiments include manufacture of maple syrup and maple candy (obviously you don't want to use lab glassware for these experiments). You supply the maple sap or syrup.
Kit includes:
20 pages of background material (reproducible) that explains idenitification of suitable maple trees, how and when to tap the trees, and the chemistry of syrup production
