In this ecological simulation, students join the Environmental Protection Services to solve the mystery of the pollution of Carter Creek. The students perform chemical tests on both the water and sediment from the creek. Once the tests have been performed they decide who or what is responsible for the fouling of the creek. In addition to the chemistry of the kit, a hypothetical scenario is presented to give background and relevance to the activity. All tests are simulations of real test for lead, mercury, PCBs and 2,4 D. (2, 4-Dischlorophenoxyacetic Acid)
