All new 3-D block model provides new insight into normal and pathological histology of skin. The front face compares and contrasts the normal healthy skin from 3 different body regions: 1) the palm or sole (totally hairless); 2) the axilla or armpit (sparse hair); 3) the scalp (completely hirsute). Features are sculpted in full relief, including the epidermis, the dermis, hypodermis, glands such as the eccrine sweat, sebacious, apocrine, as well as blood vessels, hair follicles and arrector pili muscles. 46 features are coded for identification in the accompanying key. The back face illustrates the progressive severity of injury caused by burns-from first through third degree.
