This model can be hand-held or submerged to teach students about sea floor topography, sea floor currents, and sea floor spreading (plate tectonics). When submersed in a standard ten gallon aquarium, it simulates volcanic and rift valley eruptions, as well as density currents traveling down a continental slope canyon. Kit includes model, teachers guide with four lesson plans, tubing and connectors, suction cups, and colored decals. Model dimensions are 19" x 9" x 6". Required, but not included: ten gallon aquarium (20" x 10" x 12") and pump.
