Part A Bacterial Transformation-Ampicillin Resistance Part B Bacterial Transformation of E. coli with pUC8 Part C Restriction Enzyme Cleavage of DNA Part D Electrophoresis
Analysis of Eco RI Cleavage Patterns of Lamda Phage DNA EDVO-Kit 112)
Includes predigested DNA samples. Students examine the cleavage patterns of linear lambda DNA by restriction enzyme Eco RI with gel electrophoresis. Allows the comparison of Lambda DNA cut with Eco RI, Lambda cut with Hind III (restrictive enzyme) and undigested lambda DNA. DNA samples are predigested for convenience and timeliness. Reagents for six gels. Required, but not included: horizontal cell, power supply, standard glassware, vinyl or latex gloves, balance, pipet pumps, water bath (65C), sasfety goggles, rulers, transparent cellulose acetate sheet, distilled or deionized H2O. Highly recommended: staining tray package, visible light box, automatic micropipet and tips to deliver 40 l. Reagents for 6 gels. Duration: gel prep – 30 minutes, electrophoresis (125V) – 45 minutes, staining – 15 minutes, destaining – 20 minutes.
Kit contents: UltraSpec-Agarose powder Electrophoresis buffer (50X) Ready-to-load DNA samples Practice gel loading solution Methylene Blue Plus staining solution DNA Blue InstaStain 1 mL pipet and transfer micropipets Sheet of semi-log paper (duplicate as needed) 100mL cylinder Instructions
Required, but not included: horizontal cell, power supply, standard glassware, rulers, pipet pumps, water bath (65C), distilled or deionized H2O, and personal safety equipment. Highly recommended: staining tray package, visible light box, automatic micropipet and tips to deliver 40 l.
