Lab 7: The Science of Drosophila Genetics

Drosophila provide manipulation of genetic crosses in a rapid and affordable classroom model. This experiment allows students to collect data from several generations (F1, F2) and compare several crosses (monohybrid, dihybrid and sex-linked). For 40 students (10 groups). Required, but not included: dissecting microscopes, slides, cover slips, Petri plates, Pasteur pipets, filter paper, sodium chloride, alcohol, mineral or vegetable oil.
