Good Demonstration - I use this demo during our Cell Transport unit. It works well to show students the diffusion of water. The only con that I have is the membrane they give you can tear easily.

Water diffuses through the porous membrane at the bottom of the double thistle tube when it is immersed in the water filled battery jar. The diffusion stops when the levels are equal inside and out. Then see the water rise in the tube as a sugar solution is added.
