Yes, I recommend
I have used these specimens for the past 3 years with my classes, and normally they provide the students with an insight in to both the reproductive system and fetal development that is not possible in other hands on learning experiences, short of watching a live birth. The first two times I ordered these cats, I recieved specimens at different points in their pregnancy, one at 2.5 weeks, and one at almost 9 weeks. This last time however the pregnancy was so early on it was almost undetectable and unfortunately it did not provide the same learning oppurtunity to the students, as we were unable to isolate any of the embryos in development, with the tools at our disposal. It really needs to be a 2 week pregnancy at least for this to be a more influential dissection than the cats the students dissect in their groups.

Cats, Felis species are expertly preserved and presented in an extended position for anatomical correctness and ease of study. Our latex injected cats are injected with elastic latex with bright, contrasting colors, to ensure ease of dissection. Plastic storage bags and waterproof ID tags are provided free with each cat.

We are experiencing a supply shortage for preserved cat specimens. We apologize for any delays or inconvenience this causes. It is recommended that customers place their orders as early as possible. We are also offering rabbits as an alternative to cats.

Caution: Cats are sourced from pounds and shelters. All shelters are required to retain animals for a specified time to maximize the possibility of adoption. Animals that are not adopted are euthanized at the shelters and preserved for dissection under the guidance of USDA regulations. These animals are "recycled" for education; otherwise they would have been incinerated or placed in a landfill after euthanasia.
