They then turn on the light at 10 cm distance and observe how temperatures respond differently in the black can and silver can.

In the reverse experiment, the rates of cooling can be determined after students turn off the light.

Ordering information: Each kit includes a 16 oz. black metal and a 16 oz. shiny metal can, two insulating lids, and two other thermometers (-20° to 50°C). The single kit also includes one 120VAC clamp lamp with a reflector and 100 watt light bulb; the class kit includes four lamps.
